Cultural Companions – the Rural Development Directorate has facilitated a network of older people interested in Arts and Culture. Volunteer members are facilitated by the Clare Age Friendly Programme to draw up a calendar of events to choose from every two months. All Members receive the calendar of events, posted out by the volunteers. The members meet up at an allocated time prior to each event and attend together usually with a social get together built in. 65 members had signed up by November 2018 along with 16 leaders. This project will continue in 2019 with new members welcome and the initiative is re-advertised regularly.  Events in Clare County Library, glór and Arts are among those included in each Calendar and this project encourages cross-sectoral co-operation among members of the Culture Team.
