Dancing Together

Dancing Together is a commissioned project by Clare County Council Arts Office comprising of two distinct projects linked by shared places and shared communities. Both films had an outdoor screening on Culture Night, 2019 in Shannon

Some Destroyed Sites is a collaborative engagement from an award-winning team of artists, including choreographer Katherine O'Malley (associate dance artist with Liz Roche Company), Ella Clarke (director of Elle Clarke Choreography) and filmmaker Jason Byrne (director of Loose Canon Theatre Company).

Named for an academic article featuring the development of the new Shannon airport runway in 1959, Some Destroyed Sites presented a filmed relationship between body and land in the Shannon delta.  The project journeyed through time, generations and culture to evoke this distinct community: its ghosts, heroes and creators. It explored the resonances of mythology and history that remain in Shannon today in the hands and hearts of Shannon's people.  The team worked with the local Camogie Club and the Active Retirement Groups among others.

Clout, was a commission by the Arts Office from local hip hop artist and rapper Godknows. Working with young people from Shannon, Godknows created a piece about the impact social media and techology has on the mental well being of teenagers. The young people then assisted in the making of a music video to accompany the music and performed live with Godknows at the Shannon launch.
