The Disappear Here Film Festival has become an increasingly popular feature on the festival circuit over the last three years and plans are still in place for its return to Ballyliffin at the end of September. The 3-day event is pencilled in for 25th-27th September and once again the organisers plan to celebrate independent film-making from all corners of the country, and across the globe. It is evident there is so much interest and demand for the creative industries from young people in Donegal, but there is a lack of training and development.
Donegal Film office is keen to work with in cooperation with Cinemagic to address this skills gap. Building on the success of the Donegal Film Academy at the festival last year, where a group of young people had the opportunity to make their own short film, ‘You Are Here’, the Donegal Film Office together with Cinemagic is keen to further develop skills with young people to address the ongoing gap that currently exists. As part of the festival a series of online workshops will provide bespoke training and creative opportunities for young people to develop new skills, develop in confidence which in turn help secure them employment in the creative industries. These career craft sessions will provide an insight to the areas of directing, presenting production etc and each session is an hour long and aimed at 16+ yr olds. These sessions are great opportunities for new entrants to gain insight from industry leaders; network online
