Eco Showboat is an ecological art project that aims to raise public awareness around questions of biodiversity loss, climate change and water quality. Travelling on a solar electric boat on the Irish Inland waterways, artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly invite local artists and scientists concerned with climate change to come together in public gatherings to perform, discuss and explore the challenges of achieving a durable society both locally and globally.
In early August 2023 the Mayfly will be moored at New Ross Marina where people can engage with the artists and explore the art installation. The associated programme at New Ross Library will include a poetry reading by local poets whose work reflects the beauty of our planet and advocates for its care. There will also be an opportunity to engage with fresh water biologist Rachel O'Malley and a discussion about what actions could be taken to support a healthier, more sustainable future, over locally and sustainably produced refreshments and live music.
