Exploring Art and Creativity at Fairgreen
This project will provide people experiencing homelessness with an opportunity to develop their artistic interest and skills. It will be delivered at Fairgreen Hostel and will be open to all adults in COPE Galway’s homeless services. The programme will be delivered by Tracey Moca and overseen by COPE Galway.
The project will engage 10-12 people who have an interest in art – this could include a personal interest or interest to pursue art as a career – but experienced limited opportunities to engage. Through a 10-week workshop and engagement with Galway’s wider art community, this project will enable participants to:
• enable participants explore their interests around art
• support participants to develop their artistic skills
• build transferable skills
• provide information and guidance on pursuing training/education in arts and creativity
The workshop will be delivered from June-September and will provide a supportive environment where participants will receive in-depth support (each session will be 3-hours). The workshops will focus on the three transferable elements below, which will assist participants in artistic endeavours beyond the project:
• Researching: exploring themes and topics, art styles, art mediums (e.g. painting, printing).
• Selecting: deciding which themes, art styles, etc they to incorporate
• Creating: artworks and developing their art portfolio
