Gardening Project with Clare Mental Health Service

Dates
1st Mar 2020
to 30th Sep 2020

Age Range
All ages

The East Clare Mental Health Service provides a community support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.  The Service has a successful Gardening Group.  This project will engage renowned garden designer and advocate of restorative engagement with nature, Mary Reynolds.  Mary will consider the space and intended function and provide a design and advice regarding the optimum foliage, plants, etc to encourage the rewilding of the space adjoining the Centre.  The Gardening Group will work to create a sanctuary for all native creatures that need it (including humans) to rest, recover and thrive. All work to date has had a biodiversity focus, always respectful of natural surrounding and uses the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan as a guide.  Use of the garden is seen as therapeutic, welcoming and de-stigmatising by Service Users, their families, members of the public and visiting staff from the wider community.
