National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, celebrates all things heritage. It brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.

Offaly Libraries has embraced the 2026 theme, "Heritage at Risk",  this year's focus invites communities to explore, document, and protect endangered built, natural, and cultural heritage. It encourages reflection on how we can respond to threats like climate change and habitat loss using care, creativity, and collective responsibility. 

A range of events will take place in library branches, to highlight the depth and breadth of heritage in Offaly.
