After the railings at the back of The Hunt Museum were removed, and a public competition to design and landscape a new garden was held, the decision was taken to leave the tree stump of the Pink Chestnut intact. A public consultation was conducted on what to do with it, and the conclusion was to have a tree sculpture, fitting in with the idea of The Hunt Museum's new Museum in a Garden.
Following a competition to create a sculpture from the tree stump, two artists were selected; Susan Mannion and Will Fogarty. The sculpting took place over the summer of 2021.
October and November will see the artists develop their ideas in collaboration with The Hunt Museum through online collaborations.
