Kilcormac Pieta
Faith has long been a cornerstone in the lives of the Irish down the years and particularly in small, close-knit communities. In Kilcormac, Co. Offaly this sense of faith has been symbolized for centuries by the rare cherished wooden carved icon of the Pieta. This sacred representation of Mary cradling the lifeless body of Jesus is more than just a religious artefact; it embodies the resilience, devotion and unwavering spirit of the people. If one assumes the Pieta to be made in Spain, then the next question is who might have brought it to Kilcormac, County Offaly? This is just one of the many questions posed to the community in this short film composed by Bailey & Blake, in collaboration with Kilcormac Development Association, which will be launched on the evening of Thursday, 10th April, 2025 at St. Joseph's Community Centre, Kilcormac.
