The Laois County Archives hold collections of both public and private records pertaining to Laois. An online platform is required to ensure wide access to the records for researchers and historians. In 2018 the Archive project  researched and put in place the appropriate software and website for the scanning, storage, display and retrieval of the digitised archives of County Laois. 

To date the workhouse minute books from Mountmellick, Rathdowney and Abbeyleix have been digitised as well as the minutes of Laois County Council for the period 1913-1923. A service provider has been selected, web design almost completed and the uploading of archives. In 2019 the digital archive will continue digitising archive content for the digital platform and will include the Laois County Library photographic collection, archives of Helen Roe and audio archive from the Laois oral history archive.
