‘Laois Through Our Lens’ is a collaborative visual arts and heritage project that engages young people in exploring, documenting, and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of County Laois through photography and painting. Working with professional artists and facilitators, students are encouraged to investigate the stories, landmarks, traditions, people, and places that make their local communities unique. Through guided research, field visits, and creative workshops, participants develop an understanding of local heritage while learning practical skills in photography, visual storytelling, observation, and artistic expression.

Using photography as a starting point, students capture images that reflect their personal perspectives on Laois heritage, from historic buildings and archaeological sites to landscapes, local traditions, community events, and everyday scenes of cultural significance.
