The LSC Community Workshop Programme sets out to develop and nurture community creativity through exposure to skills, expertise, technical resources and collaborative action. It does this by opening up the cultural infrastructure of the Centre to local communities and by developing with them their interests and capacities in developing new work for public display.
This year artists Michael O’Hara, Crona Gallagher, Bettina Seitz and John Byrne will be working with members of North Leitrim Mens Group, North Leitrim Womens Group and North Leitrim Mens Shed to deliver a high quality artistic experience in the form of basic and practical art-making workshops and presentations. The broad remit of the programme is that participants not only learn new skills and understanding but that they move forward with confidence in collaborating together and getting involved not only according to their interests and needs but in relation to the resources, knowledge and potential outcomes and long term benefits provided by the Centre.
An exhibition of the worked produced will take place in early 2022 in the LSC Community Pop-Up – an old shop now owned by LSC on Main St. in the centre of the town.
