Making Space

Making Space is a collaborative community project which is coordinated by Living Well with Dementia with the aim to provide two artists with time and space to explore and enrichen their creative offerings in this specialist area.

Living Well with Dementia is a community based HSE initiative providing person-centred care and support for people concerned about their memory, those diagnosed with dementia, their families, and carers. The programme is hosted by Southside Partnership Blackrock, and our vision is of a community that respects, supports, and empowers people with dementia, a community in which people with dementia are socially and culturally valued, and where they can actively participate in society in a safe environment.

‘Making Space’ brings together two artists, Caroline Hyland and Kim Jenkinson who bring different skill sets and knowledge of art mediums and processes. The collaboration is an opportunity to design, build, adapt and reflect with another creative to enrich their creative offerings and engagement with the LWwD art groups. The key objectives are to allow both artists to learn from each other to enhance their artistic endeavours and engagement with the LWwD groups. It will give group participants access to more learning opportunities and a broader canvas of art experiences. This project allows both artists to learn from each other, increasing their knowledge,  confidence and skill set and enabling them to support these groups in a more effective way.
