This project highlights the significant talent at local, national and international level from a geographical area that is rich in fiddle music.
The CD recording will not only be of huge interest to a large cohort of Irish traditional musicians and enthusiasts, all over Ireland and beyond, but it will also be a shining light for other female musicians, especially fiddle players. The CD will also considerably raise the profile of the lesser well-known fiddlers in the group and will present further opportunities for professional development in their musical careers. The production of a CD concentrating on one gender in one geographical area playing one instrument to a high standard is quite a unique proportion and a currently topical project chiming with the trend towards giving an equal platform to female musicians and would be a highly sought after performance for the festival and events calendars in the coming years.
