Monumental Landscapes of Sligo

The passage tomb landscapes of County Sligo are amongst the richest areas of passage tombs in western Europe. Centered on Carrowmore and Carrowkeel, the monuments range from small to complex with large cairns, and cover the timespan c. 4000-3000 BC.  The monuments are of international importance and have transformed the landscape of County Sligo.

Sligo County Council, with its partners, and in collaboration with the local community, has embarked on an ambitious, innovative and creative, high quality initiative that specifically aims to enhance and extend the public’s experience of Sligo’s monumental landscape.

Through this collaborative Creative Ireland initiative, Sligo County Council seeks to capture and reignite our shared connection with this unique and special landscape through the media of film, so that we can showcase and share this wonderful landscape with others during Heritage Week 2022.
