NCCWN Limerick Women’s Network

A community of women drawn from around Limerick and representative of Limerick Women's Network will work with Fold and Rise artists to explore the culture and value of care. They will make visible the existing experiences and challenges of providing care, articulating the value delivered to wider society. Through artmaking the intrinsic value and contribution of caring in our society can be perceived and understood.

Limerick Women's Network seeks to recognise the unacknowledged value of care as a community function and societal asset, and to take action as creative citizens to counter this failure to appreciate a key social benefit. Artworks and events will be created as visible records of community experience. They will make visible the existing experiences and challenges of caring, articulating the value delivered to wider society.

A convening of gathered communities of women from around Limerick will now work with the Fold and Rise artists in conjunction with the Limerick Women’s Network will make this visible through everyday creative activities- bread making is a thing that we all know about- a place at the table where care has been passed on. By thinking and talking with our hands using flour, dough and art materials, we will fold over our common experiences to create small artworks. A series of art making workshops will be followed by a larger community event feeding back into our communities.
