Nets of Wonder

NETS OF WONDER is a creative collaboration between an artist, writer and musician/composer. It aims to bring to a wide community audience a multimedia depiction of our cultural heritage based on 36 original spoken essays by the author which have been broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 Sunday Miscellany programme. There are currently two components to this project;

  1. An art installation “Stories on the Wall” featuring original Barry Britton artworks, along with extracts from the Olive Travers stories which inspired them.
  2. A podcast of a selection of the spoken essays read by the author interspersed with original music compositions by the composer Eamon Travers.
‘Nets of Wonder’ illustrations will be used to create a “Stories on the Wall” exhibition for installation in community and festival settings. Each illustration will be accompanied by an extract from the piece of writing which inspired it. The installation will be accompanied by a podcast of the spoken word of the Sunday Miscellany pieces with original musical accompaniment. The project will engage with organisations such as Local Hands Arts Collective, the Allingham Arts, Ballyshannon Folk Festival, Donegal Bay and Bluestacks and Errigal Arts Festivals as well as schools and various social groups.
