New Memory Radio is a collaborative music project bringing together people living with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), musician and producer Elaine Howley, Cork City Library and Éist Community Radio. Through weekly facilitated sessions, participants will explore music through listening, discussion, archive discovery and creative reflection, using music as a source of enjoyment, curiosity and connection.

Working with the library's music collection, participants will be supported to discover new artists, revisit favourite recordings and share musical interests in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Together, they'll learn the basics of music curation, developing themes, selecting tracks and shaping listening experiences for others.

Each month, the group will collaborate to create a one-hour pre-recorded radio programme for broadcast on Éist Community Radio. The shows are centred on music, with optional creative contributions such as short introductions, poetry or sound recordings, giving participants opportunities to develop confidence, new skills and a sense of creative ownership.

By positioning participants as listeners, curators and broadcasters, New Memory Radio will create meaningful opportunities for cultural participation, social connection and self-expression. The project celebrates music as a shared cultural experience while supporting wellbeing, belonging and lifelong engagement with creativity.
