One City One Book is Cork City Libraries' citywide reading initiative, inviting people across Cork to read, discuss and celebrate the same book together. By creating opportunities for shared reading experiences, the programme fosters connection, conversation and cultural participation, transforming the city into one large book club.

Since 2019, the initiative has championed the work of Cork writers, publishers and stories connected to the city, building a strong reputation as one of Cork's most successful literary engagement programmes. For 2026, the selected title is Filly by Rosamund Taylor, a genre-defying coming-of-age novel in verse and the first poetry title to be chosen for the programme. Published by Cork-founded Banshee Press, the selection highlights the strength and diversity of the city's contemporary literary scene.

Launched during the Cork World Book Festival, the programme will be supported by a wide range of public events, discussions and creative activities across the city, encouraging readers to engage with literature in new and unexpected ways. Through collaborations with booksellers, libraries, writers and cultural partners, One City One Book extends the reach of local publishing while creating meaningful opportunities for community participation.

The initiative generates strong public engagement with the selected One City One Book title consistently the most borrowed book in Cork City Libraries each year since 2019.
