This project will record, celebrate, and present the remarkable story of Paddy Donovan, one of County Laois's most accomplished sporting figures and a true legend of Irish handball. A lifelong member of Monavea Handball Club, Paddy has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning decades, earning a reputation for excellence, dedication, and sportsmanship at provincial, national, and international levels. His crowning achievement came when he was crowned Men's 50+ World Handball Singles Champion in Minnesota, USA, a testament to his skill, resilience, and commitment to the sport. 

Alongside this world title, Paddy amassed an extraordinary collection of Leinster and All-Ireland championships across both the 40x20 and 60x30 alley codes, establishing himself as one of the most successful handball players ever produced by Laois. Through interviews, archival photographs, match footage, community engagement, and personal reflections, the project will explore not only Paddy's sporting achievements but also his influence as a mentor, ambassador, and community leader whose passion for handball helped inspire generations of players throughout the county.
