Working towards World Down Syndrome Day 2021, young members of Leitrim Down Syndrome Ireland group will be working with the artist Anna Leask to deliver a digital/ photographic project that acknowledges the artistic capacity of children/ young people with an intellectual disability, specifically Down Syndrome and their family unit. Because language and communication often present as a barrier for persons with Down syndrome and because children with Down syndrome are exceptionally visual in their learning and understanding, we believe that photography is the perfect medium to illustrate this.
