The Poet in Residence will propose a format to engage communities in the environs of the parks with Poetry in the Park installations and produce poetry that reflects the ecosystems of their area and of Cork city as a whole.
The programme will create opportunities for the poet to develop their practice within this setting. They will also be given time to advance his/her own work during the residency, engage the public through a creative process and promote the awareness of Cork City Council Library Service and its resources, by establishing a dynamic link between Cork City Libraries, the literary community and especially work in tandem with organisations and groups engaged in protecting our environment.
The Poet in residence will expand the public engagement with poetry in the city, connecting people, poetry and the environment. Cork City Libraries organise the annual Cork World Book Festival each year with Triskel Arts and the final work will be showcased during the Festival.
The Library Service is open to new approaches and responses around the public engagement aspect for this residency.
