Queen Maeve Festival, Sligo - May Bank Holiday Weekend 3rd to 5th May 2024

Queen Maeve Festival

The Council have put in place a working group which consists of members of the Culture Team assisted by Council technical staff in order to produce a special Queen Maeve Festival for the official opening of the new civic space, to take place from 3rd May to 5th May over the May bank holiday weekend.

This will be a special community orientated event for locals and visitors alike to show case Sligo and to instil a sense of ownership in the community of the new square through the provision of a festival of music and family fun over the bank holiday weekend. We are currently working up an exciting programme which will have a variety of headline acts and supports over all of the 3 evenings for all tastes and ages.

We will be collaborating with local groups, creatives and artistic communities with a view to building in creative, community and historic elements. The festival will demonstrate to the community the potential of how this new civic space can contribute to the creative, social, community and economic benefits Sligo town and county.

The creation of our new community performance space will deliver on many of our objectives laid down in our 5 year Creative Ireland Culture and Creativity Strategy 2023 – 2027, from creative place to community engagement and the opportunity for individuals and community groups to realise their creativity.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
