Radio Play 'The Woman'

Since the start of September, South Tipperary Arts Centre have been busy developing and producing a Transition Year student centred full length radio play. It will give the TY students of the Presentation Secondary School Clonmel the opportunity to create, devise and assist in the production of the finished piece.

Eimear King and Catherine McVicker will mentor the students over 8 weeks. Their approach will be one of inclusivity, embracing all aspects of production and performance as vital cogs in a collective wheel. The two creative mentors who have experience in a diverse range of creative mediums will engage students in the process, whether through writing and devising, performing, recording and editing, to creating a visual identity for the project, and all the surrounding PR and social media roles, showing the many processes that go into putting together a production for broadcast, and the pipeline that needs to be in place to make a team project successful.

The theme/subject will be developed by the participating students, allowing them to take this project in several directions, depending on their interests and concerns as a group. The skills the students will take away from this will help them both with their confidence and teamwork capabilities, as well as giving them a vehicle for expression and a platform to share their views.

The finished play will be broadcast on Pure Radio Tipperary on the 25th October 2021, time to be confirmed.
