This project reflects the idea of community portrayed by the community. ‘Re-creation’ embodies two meanings of the word: the re-enactment of old photographs from areas around Gorey; and the recreation, celebration and enjoyment to be had through community engagement with art and artists exploring the landscape, people, history, heritage and fashions of their own area.
This will be a unique and enjoyable way of involving young and old in local history – the changing face of buildings, landscape and demography, the movement and stories of families, the fashion in hair and dress, the changing means of transportation, work, agriculture and more.
The final result will be celebrated at a public event during the Gap Arts Festival in August.
