Rooted and Rising is a participatory cultural project for migrant mothers with young children (0–5) living in Galway City. The project creates a welcoming space for connection, creativity and shared experience, particularly for those navigating early motherhood without established local support networks.

Alongside the workshops, the project will use a participatory storytelling approach, capturing mothers’ lived experiences of navigating motherhood across cultures in Ireland. Through informal conversations and optional one-to-one reflections, key themes around identity, belonging and everyday life will be documented, fostering a sense of meitheal (community connection) among participating families.

Taking place in summer 2026 across community and outdoor settings in Galway City, Rooted and Rising aims to support wellbeing, reduce isolation and foster a sense of belonging, while ensuring the voices and experiences of mothers raising a new generation of Irish children are heard.
