Shared Skills, Shared Stories
Shared Skills, Shared Stories is a free community cultural exchange project brought to Lisdoonvarna by Common Knowledge. Over four weekly sessions from July to August 2026, local skillsharers and community members come together to make, learn and share across traditional crafts, music and growing.
Each session is informal and hands-on, with a small number of practical and cultural activities led by experienced practitioners from the Common Knowledge team and wider skillsharing network.
Activities across the four sessions include traditional and sean-nós song, weaving and willow weaving, wood turning, and food growing and biodiversity skills. There is always open time for participants to share their own skills, knowledge and cultural practices. The exchange goes both ways.
The project builds on Common Knowledge’s People of Rekindle initiative, which captures people from across Clare and people newer to the county who share traditional skills and crafts. With consent, skills and stories shared during the sessions will be lightly documented, contributing to that ongoing project. A public sharing will take place at the Rekindle Festival of Lost Skills in August 2026.
Light refreshments are provided. All are welcome. Supported by Clare County Council and Creative Ireland.
