Species Counterpoint by Composer Ian Wilson:The project involves the creation of a 25 minute soundtrack which will be an exploration of animal and plant species under threat of extinction in County Sligo because of the effects of climate change. Fragments of interviews with local people regarding causes of species extinction form part of a soundtrack which will also include field recordings and some recorded musical elements from the soloists. In addition to this, a score will be created for Dutch saxophonist Ties Mellema and Sligo based saxophonist Cathal Roche. Produced in collaboration with The Model and Culture Night. Funded by Creative Ireland (Sligo) and the Arts Council of Ireland.
