Kids’ Own and Sligo Children’s Community Garden will work in partnership to develop a new project, Sprouting Seeds, a programme of creative activities and workshops for a core group of 20 children (aged 5-12) at Sligo CCG, facilitated by professional artists and writers.  We are particularly excited to partner on this project, which will develop and offer the first engagement programme for children in the Story Shed space (an initiative previously funded by Creative Sligo). In addition to working with professional artists, Kids’ Own will engage an associate writer to work with the group, encouraging conversation, story sharing and storytelling; this is the first time Sligo CCG’s young members will work with a professional writer, which will further emphasise the Story Shed as a shared community space for creative storytelling. Following a workshop series, the project will culminate in the publication and launch of a unique and beautiful booklet of children’s artwork, writing and reflections on themes of environment, biodiversity and community, among others. The booklet will serve as a celebration of the Story Shed’s beginnings and inaugural project, but also a way to share and value the children’s work among their families, friends, and wider community. It will act as a lasting and inspiring testament to the Story Shed’s beginning, as a space dedicated to inclusion of all community members, including the youngest members.
