This project deepens public connection with the heritage of Evie Hone’s work in Marlay through hands‑on creative engagement. Participants will receive an introduction to the history of stained glass and traditional stained glass techniques, using Evie Hone’s work as a key reference point. Each participant will then create their own stained glass suncatcher, while learning the essential skills of this historic craft.

Initially a painter, Hone became a pioneering figure in modern Irish stained glass, helping to shape the distinctive character of the medium in the early 20th century. Living and working at Marlay, Hone transformed her studio into a vibrant centre of artistic production. Her contribution, alongside artists such as Harry Clarke and Michael Healy, played a key role in establishing Ireland’s reputation for stained glass.
