Taking Creative Control - Managing your Menopause through Art

Menopause and perimenopause will impact every woman in their life. This ‘life stage’ affects each woman in different ways: some experiencing little or no negative impact. But, in the majority, menopause and perimenopause can prove challenging, difficult to navigate and often frightening for women.

Through creative processes, we at Mná Le Chéile Women's Shed Shannon are looking for 12 participants to take part in a 6 week course called Taking Creative Control- Managing your Menopause through Art.  It is for women who would like explore their personal journey through menopause and perimenopause while also sharing their narrative with other women simultaneously through Art.

In this 6 week course we will be delving into various art based processes about Menopause while being in an empathetic environment with empowering women taking creative control. We would envisage to create positive conversations around female reproductive physiology and address the "taboo" associations given to this life stage.

Taking Creative Control- Managing your Menopause through Art ’ project will be run in Mna Le Cheile Womens Shed which is based in the Shannon Family Resource Centre , Rineanna View Shannon Co Clare  for 6 weeks starting May 2024 and facilitated by Kay O Donoghue MA in Arts & Engagement.
