Tea & Tunes is a Music in a Healthcare Setting outreach programme led by Grainne Hope of Training Notes/Kids Classics which builds on the Music in a Healthcare Setting Training programme run by the Arts Office in Meath, for the past number of years. As in person visits were suspended for the most part due to Covid 19, one of the main issues received in feedback is the isolation many nursing home residents feel and the disconnection from families that they are suffering. To help combat this, Grainne and her team have devised and piloted Tea & Tunes.

The format is simple; a pre -booked, personalized 3 way Zoom session with individual residents, their families, and the musicians. Music/songs are pre requested, the session takes place during morning or afternoon tea and the resident and their families can join in or chat together over a cup of tea. The sessions will be facilitated by the healthcare setting Activities Co-Ordinator and can be scheduled to coincide with birthdays, anniversaries, or family special occasions.
