Music Generation Sligo is a music education service for children and young people in County Sligo. It is part of Music Generation – Ireland’s National Music Education Programme, initiated by Music Network and funded by U2, The Ireland Funds and the Department of Education & Skills.
MGS delivers an extensive range of long-term music education projects for children and young people under 18 around Sligo County allowing all young people the opportunity to access and engage in high quality music education programmes.
On this occasion, Music Generation Sligo provided three teenage bands, Accident Prone, Statistic Life and The contradictions, to perform at Sligo Central Library. These bands, although dedicated in practicing their specific genres, would not normally have a venue to perform in. As such a sizable crowd of both their peers and associated family members were guaranteed to be present for these performances and marked a debut public appearance for some.
