The Beyond Borders Book Club
The Beyond Borders Book Club is a celebration of great literature from countries beyond Ireland, recommended by guests who have connections to the places discussed in these writings. Its’ aim is to introduce the great diversity of writing and literature in the world to audiences in Ireland.
Brought to you by the Ennis Book Club Festival, the Beyond Borders Book Club consists of a series of monthly book club events. At each Book Club meeting, a presenter shares a book that they love and connect to personally and invites members of the audience to read the book and join in a discussion about it. The Book Club meetings are led by poet Sarah Clancy who will introduce the presenter and guide the discussion. The book titles are announced ahead of the meetings and made available to borrow from Clare Libraries.
Join us at the Temple Gate Hotel for the following discussions chaired by poet Sarah Clancy.
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 29th Sree Sen (India) discusses The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy.
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 13th Nandi Jola (South Africa) discusses We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo.
Both events are free and no booking is required. All presenters will come together for a panel discussion at the Ennis Book Club Festival on 2 March 2024.
