The Big Dig

The Big Dig is an exciting opportunity for young people to be creative through archaeology.

Exploring stories of Wexford’s Viking past and learning about the tools, trenches and treatments particular to an archaeologist, The Big Dig centres around a replica Viking House where treasures and artefacts wait to be uncovered.

Guided by professional working archaeologists, the children take part in an excavation that broadens their engagement with Wexford’s history and heritage. This project promotes storytelling and imagination, and stimulates an active dialogue for children between creative thinking and action and how the past informs the present.

The Big Dig will take place outside Wexford Library on 29th June.

It is suitable for children aged 5-12.
