I intend on creating a short film centered around these women, intertwining their stories with the symbolism of the Guardian Tree in the woods.  I plan to work with Niall Flynn on the filming and to have a series of aerial shots. The tree, like these mothers, has stood tall and strong, offering protection and shelter, but now must navigate a new phase of existence. The film would explore the deep sense of care these mothers have given, not only as caretakers but as wise guardians moving into the "crone" phase of life. It’s about giving a voice to this transition—one that often feels like a void for those who have given so much.

In addition to the film, I want to offer these women a special, healing space in the Story Shed—a place where they can express themselves outside of their role as carers. Whether through storytelling, art, or other talents, this would be a space to explore their creativity, to be seen as more than mothers but as individuals with rich inner lives and wisdom to share. This is also a place to deeply acknowledge the care they’ve given and continue to give, and to hold space for them as they move into this new chapter of life. This would be facilitated through a series of workshops in the Story Shed.
I believe this project aligns beautifully with the ethos of the Bealtaine Festival as a celebration of age, wisdom, and opportunity. It’s about honoring these women, giving them something in return for all they’ve given, and holding space for their stories.
