The Park is a project about place. It is a project about people’s lives. It is about remembering but also about looking at the present and the future.

The Townspark Resident’s Committee has already worked alongside artist and filmmaker Róisín Loughrey for several months, sharing with her their extraordinary archive of photographs, audio tapes and historical writings. She has researched this archive and developed a very exciting socially-engaged art and audiovisual piece that both the community group and artist hope to work on over the summer and Autumn of 2019. 

The Park is an exciting, social art project hoping to connect with people in a creative and visual way. It came about by the desire of the local resident’s committee to turn their extensive historical archive into something meaningful and creative. By recreating an element of the past they hoped to engage with the community’s present and future. Smaller social histories are often forgotten but are vital to the heritage of an alive and creative community.
