The Pop-up Leitrim Women's Museum
North Leitrim Womens' centre are working with Donna Gilligan from Sceal Heritage to develop a Pop-up Leitrim Women's Museum that can be enjoyed and shared with the wider community.
During the month of May and June, a series of pop-up women’s museum will take place in accessible public venues across the county. The pop-up museum will consist of the display of the “Leitrim Women Through Time 1850 – 1950” travelling museum exhibition, accompanied by an engaging display of artefacts from rural women’s history, and an LWTT project representative to speak to the public about the project and the museum. On these days the group will record and collect information on local women’s history, share updates on our social media, and build networks for future memory work (including oral history recording) with people in the county. The Pop-up Museum Project also offers the opportunity for members of the community to bring along their own photographs, documents, and objects associated with local women’s history to be recorded by the project for posterity. We will share our newly recorded additions to the project on our dedicated project Facebook page.
