In late 2021 - with the advent of the City and Community re-opening - the neighbourhoods of Inchicore and Kilmainham undertook to organise a major Samhain Event.
Designed as a cross community, cross generational and multicultural occasion it featured multiple local parades to a symbolic site where a significant, music, dance and stage spectacle took place, engaging over 50 volunteers, and bands across popular, and traditional forms, drumming troupes, brass and Ghannian led dancing - engaging circa 300 people on a night of torrential rain. Titled The Samhain Stage - it also functioned as the first public occasion in which to openly acknowledge the passing of family and friends during the Covid Pandemic and has been widely acclaimed as an event of profound personal and community significance.
The Samhain Stage was also established as the forerunner of a planned trilogy of such events in 2022 / 2022 / 2023 - when deeper levels of artistic input and community workshop programmes, enabling enhanced levels participation and cultural confidence will be its main feature.
