The Seamus Grant Festival - 'Music in the air'
Clonmany is rich in the history of ancient Ireland and boasts many historic buildings and areas of interest to the visitor. Perched on the NW side of the Inishowen Peninsula it is the starting point for many travellers on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is only when you slow down and really get to know the area that you realise its treasures. One of these is the rich traditional music that is celebrated in both singing and fiddle playing. Boasting 2 traditional Irish music festivals each year, the area is a must for music lovers.
The Seamus Grant Festival takes place on the 2nd weekend of October annually and features concerts, sessions, workshops and a friendly welcome to musicians and listeners alike.
To celebrate the rich history of our place and its music this project will record local traditional music performances at a number of historic and beautiful locations in Clonmany.
Featured in our photo is the O’Dochartaigh Castle at Carickabraghy on the Isle of Doagh.
