The Slow Camera Exchange is Ireland's first analogue camera library, founded by artist Jessica Marbe in memory of her husband, photographer Hermann Marbe. The project opens access to analogue photography through a shared lending collection of cameras, supported by workshops, inductions and community-led creative exchange. By encouraging people to slow down, observe their surroundings and make images with intention, the initiative promotes creativity, wellbeing and meaningful connection.

Delivered in Cork City, the programme creates accessible pathways for people of all backgrounds to engage with film photography, regardless of previous experience. Through public induction sessions, participants will learn how to borrow and use analogue cameras with confidence, opening access to creative tools that may otherwise be out of reach.

In 2026 a series of hands-on workshops will support participants to develop their skills through guided photo walks, place-based creative prompts, image-making activities and opportunities for reflection and sharing. Using the principles of slow photography, participants are encouraged to explore memory, place, storytelling and observation while developing their own creative voice. The project will also generate new bodies of community-created work, strengthening connections between people and the places they live.

A public event during Culture Night will showcase the project and invite new audiences to engage with analogue photography.
