The Slow Camera Exchange

The Slow Camera Exchange is a partnership between Cork City Libraries and the Cork Film Centre and is a legacy project using the cameras of Hermann Marbe and honouring his inclusive approach to arts engagement.  It supports people from all walks of life to use analogue photography processes to slow down and see the world through a variety of different lenses. The programme aims to support opportunities for creative experimentation and development, both for artists and for members of the community who wish to develop creativity and to use photography to tell their stories contributing to a sense of place.

Planned activities for the Slow Camera Exchange project in 2024 include an Experimental Community Photo Story Project, with participants engaging in image creation and exploration, culminating in exhibitions.  Additionally, support will be provided for ongoing engagement through Camera Club activities and technician assistance. A Mini School Pilot Project will engage a local school, while a Publication initiative will showcase project outcomes.

Workshop venue locations vary.
