The project will see the publication and launch of a booklet on the Spanish Armada in Donegal. The book will be written by diver and historian David Atherton in collaboration with Paula Harvey of Donegal G.A.P. Heritage and History Group and the Inishowen Maritime Museum. Following on from the launch of the La Trinidad Valencera exhibition at Inishowen Maritime Museum in 2022 there has been much interest in the Spanish Armada in Donegal, especially the wrecks and wreck sites off the coast of Donegal. David himself was one of the original divers to discover the wreck of La Trinidad Valencera and has carried out over 50 years of research on the subject. The project will provide an insight into the Spanish Armada of 1588 and their movements around the Donegal coast. The project will reawaken the interest of the local community and the launch at Inishowen Maritime Museum will allow the community to engage with the divers, researchers and all those involved in the subject across Donegal.
