Eoghan Phelan an artist who works successfully with recycled materials will create a 3D sculptural like structure using recycled plastics to re-imagine the traditional stone circle in a new and vibrant way in Bayside Park. The Stone Circle will link disparate points of the park.
The artist will involve the local community including local young people by devising a working group comprised of members of Bayside Community Association and Bayside Senior Primary School alongside a group of older citizens who regularly meet in the community centre.
The artist is keen to use his technological and engineering skills to engage young people in particular in the project, involving them in measuring, testing and making building materials and ultimately inspiring them to see that the arts and technology can comfortably coexist.
The Stone Circle will become a place of community, culture and heritage, a place of music and storytelling and an important place of gathering for the community.
