The Streets are Ours is a dance/circus participatory project for children aged 8-10. Facilitated by renowned Dutch dance artist and choreographer Erik Kaeil of Arch 8, the children will work with Erik and with Galway based dance artist Fionnuala Doyle Wade and circus artist Isabella Mello to devise, develop and choreograph an outdoor public performance as part of Baboró International Arts Festival for Children in October 2021.

Over a 3 week period, Erik will work with Fionnuala and Isabella to devise choreography which blends contemporary dance, circus and parkour. Fionnuala and Isabella will facilitate 3-4 weekly workshops with up to 12 children, working on this choreography and performance. Erik will arrive in Galway the week of the 30 September and will work with Fionnuala and Isaballa and the children on devising and rehearsing the performances, which will take place on the weekend of the 9-10 October at Shantalla Community Centre

This project represents not only the public facing performance and the participation of the children; it also involved Galway based dance and circus artists building capacity and connections with European practitioners and giving a European/International platform to Galway artists.
