Helena Golden Willow Woman has been making traditional baskets and delivering Basket Making workshops and classes for a number of years.  Her relaxed, informative teaching style ensures that each participant is guided through the weaving process at a pace they are comfortable with and each participant makes their own basket throughout the course of a training session.  As 2020 brought considerable lifestyle changes, Helena was astutely aware of the fact that people felt "cut off" and had more free time on their hands. "There is a great interest in sustainable, traditional craft and the art of weaving is very therapeutic, hence I felt that making it available online would be of interest to many". 

With this in mind she began delivering Willow Weaving Workshops online. The materials for the online workshops are delivered to the participants home and Helena then delivers live online training to small groups via the Zoom platform. 

With the support of Creative Ireland Helena Golden Willow Woman is now working online with groups such as Tidy Towns and ICA.  The restrictions of 2020 have meant that established groups are no longer meeting and are losing their momentum. By participating in The Willow Weavers Project, group members are engaging with each other, keeping in touch, learning a new skill and having some fun.
