Teenagers and young people are rarely heard on the radio, outside of sports coverage. As a community station, RCB wants to turn up the volume for our local youth and bring their ideas to the foreground. By working with our local Youthreach centre we will reach those who are usually hidden in the background.

In a series of workshops and studio visits, with continuous support, we will guide a group of young people through the process of scripting, performing, recording and editing a series of four half-hour programmes to be aired on RCB.

Drama facilitator John Lillis will lead three sessions. The first of these will be an introduction to the project, listening to what the young people need around creatively expressing their voices, and in the following 2 sessions he will assist them to develop these ideas through drama, writing and scripting for radio. RCB training coordinator Lily de Sylva will lead a further three sessions focused on the practical skills of recording, editing and radio production. The project will be participant-led as far as possible, with the final format and content of the programmes decided by them.

The finished programmes will air in October/November 2026, after project completion.
