Viola
This project will select 20 children from DEIS city schools and provide them with free instruments and weekly group music lessons. Funding is requested to support teaching, staff training, and administrative costs.
AIM Sistema currently teaches violin to 100 children weekly and is now expanding to include viola instruction to help develop fuller string orchestras. The programme will begin in May, with school coordination, family engagement, and introductory sessions taking place before summer, followed by teacher training over the summer.
Instruments will be distributed in September when formal lessons begin. Children will learn in small groups and later join larger ensembles, typically performing publicly after about six months.
As part of the international Sistema network, the programme promotes inclusion by removing barriers such as cost and access, aiming to positively impact children’s lives through music.
