Working title: Mapping Wolfe Tone Street

Ormston House, with artist Mary Conroy and historian Sharon Slater, will host a series of workshops of guided walking tours that will explore the rich history of Wolfe Tone Street in Limerick city. Sharon Slater will present an overview of notable residents and stories, including Hollywood actress Constance Smith, and important moments in the street’s history.

This event will act as an introduction as we begin to uncover the street’s history together. Limerick citizens and Wolfe Tone Street residents will be invited to explore the street’s history and heritage through free creative mapping workshops with Mary Conroy. Through drawing, printmaking, and photography techniques, Mary will guide participants through creative ways to gather visual information, examine and observe the street.  Participants will be invited to share their own stories and oral history of the street.

Mary Conroy will guide a slow walk with Historian-in-Residence Sharon Slater exploring Wolfe Tone Street. This walk will focus on the cultural heritage of the street while allowing participants to observe the street in a contemporary context, gathering visual clues to its past and present functions through artistic processes. Please join us on Saturday 20th August 2022 from 2-3.30pm starting from Charlie Malone’s bar.
