Cultural Companions is a volunteer-based program that connects older adults and other members of the community with shared interests in arts and culture, aiming to reduce social isolation by facilitating their attendance at events like theatre, concerts, and exhibitions. Delivered by Muintir na Tire and supported by Cork County Council, Cork City Coucil,  Creative Irelandand the HSE, this initiative helps individuals find companions and build local networks to participate in Cork's vibrant cultural scene.
 

How it works

• Volunteers:

  Individuals offer their time and energy to accompany others to cultural events, providing support and encouragement. 

• Community Networks:

  The program fosters local groups of people with similar interests in arts, heritage, and culture, who can meet up regularly to attend events together. 

• Event Access:

  Participants receive information about various cultural activities through a monthly newsletter and can join online groups to stay connected.
